Minnesota Gophers Football wraps up special season with loss to Wisconsin, but bowl hopes remain high.
On a snowy day with ESPN's College Gameday in town, the Minnesota Gophers fall to their neighbors to the east, the Wisconsin Badgers 38-17 to wrap up the regular season.
Rashad Bateman opened the scoring early in the first quarter and the stadium was as loud as I (Matt) have heard it. Unfortunately the cheers turned to stunned silence as the Badgers scored 38 of the next 41 points of the game. Yes, the Gophers got one in garbage time, but it was not even too little too late at that point, the game was done.
It could very well be the last time that Gophers safety, Antoine Winfield III will take the TCF Bank Stadium field in Maroon and Gold. He had seven tackles for the game and assisted on a tackle for loss.
Stay tuned to see where the bowl-eligble Gophers end up. Despite the let down, losing two of their last three games of the year, the 10-2 Gophers had a magical season that fans will remember for quite some time.
