In his final year as a Gopher, sophomore (he was injured for most of the 2017 and 2018 seasons) Antoine Winfield Jr. racked up 88 tackles, three and a half of those for loss, three sacks. He snagged seven interceptions, a modern-era single season school record. His storied college football career was matched in the classroom where he was named an Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2018 and 2019.
Most notably he was awarded the Bronco Nagurski Award as the team's MVP and was a finalist for the 2019 defensive player of the year.
Winfield was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the 45th pick in the 2020 draft and is the first Gopher defensive back to be drafted since his teammate Jalen Myrick was drafted in 2017.
