Gophers Volleyball loses to Wisconsin in four sets

The Minnesota Gophers volleyball team loses their fourth game of the season against the Wisconsin Badgers 3-1.

It was a match between two top-ten ranked teams and the sets were all won by 3 points or less with Wisconsin pulling out the fourth set after Minnesota ran out of substitutions, leaving them at a disadvantage at the net. Minnesota falls to 19-4 on the year (13-2 in the Big Ten) while Wisconsin improves to 18-5 (14-1 in the Big Ten).

Bayley McMenimen dished up 29 assists and an ace with Tamara Dolonga picking up 23. Prior Lake’s CC McGraw led the team with 28 digs as she flew around the court. On offense, Adanna Rollins led the way with 16 kills and 4 blocks. With 12 kills, Airi Miyabe and Alexis Hart came in next, picking up two and three blocks respectively. Regan Pittman led the way in blocks with six, she also had 11 kills and an ace. Red shirt senior from Blaine, Taylor Morgan had eight kills, a dig and three blocks while Stephanie Samedy rounded out the offense with five kills, four digs and a block.

The two teams traded points and leads throughout the match.

Set 1: Wisconsin won 25-22
Set 2: Minnesota won 25-23
Set 3: Wisconsin won 30-28
Set 4: Wisconsin won 29-27

Minnesota will host the Michigan Wolverines at Maturi Pavilion at 7 PM on Nov. 16. The game will be streamed on BTN+ and if Thursday night’s crowd is any indication, the building will be rocking on Saturday.
