When and where did you start dancing?
I started dancing 15 years ago at QC Dance and i’ve been dancing there my whole life. I loved going on stage and all the jitters I had before preforming.
How has your style progressed?
My styles has progressed a lot. When I was younger I really liked tap and sassy jazz. Now i’m obsessed with contemporary.
What do you love about dance today?
I love dance today because I can get away from everything that’s happening in my life at the moment and just relax and not worry about the future and just live in the moment and do what I love to do most.
What are 1-2 challenges you have sustained in your dance career?
One challenge I have faced during my dance career is being part deaf and having multiple ear surgeries throughout my life which messes up your equilibrium and balance so it ends up being like re-learning how to find the balance and being able to turn without falling out. It’s a very hard thing to do.
What is a lesson you learned from the challenge above?
A lesson I have learned from that is to never give up even when things get hard. The situation can be very frustrating and it takes a lot of time, hard work and practice to come back from it but it’s so worth it in the end.
What is the best piece of advice you ever received?
The best piece of advice I have ever received in life is just that “Everything happens for a reason”.
Shout-outs & credits:
I would like to shout out my studio directors Barb and Lissa for giving me so many amazing opportunities and for never giving up on me and always believing in me no matter what. I’m so grateful for them and my studio!
